The Paddlesport Leader is aimed at paddlers who wish to lead groups of mixed craft on both wind affected and slow moving sheltered water.
This 1 day paddlesport leader assessment will qualify you to run trips in mixed craft on both wind affected and slow moving sheltered water.
Assessment
The assessment can be run over 1 or 2 days (we typically run it over 1 day unless specifically asked for a 2 day assessment) depend on the course ratios and logistics relating to access to suitable environments.
In order to achieve the qualification you need to show competence in the following elements: Participant focused leadership skills Personal paddling skills Rescue skills Underpinning background knowledge, understanding and experience.
Upon completion of the Assessment, the course provider will submit successful participants for certification.

Who is it for?
The paddlesport leader award assessment is designed to certify the required skills to lead paddling trips on slow moving sheltered water that can also be affected by the wind.
Prerequisites
- Full National Association Membership Valid (within 3 years).
- First Aid (8hr) recognised by Paddle UK (valid within 3 years).
- Safeguarding Training recognised by Paddle UK.

Assessments
Attendance of this assessment will not necessarily gain you a pass. Those unsuccessful will be given an action plan to gain the required experience to pass the award.
Groups
Private Assessments (1:1)
1 day can be arrange for £385.
2 Day Assessments
2 day assessments can be arrange for groups of of up to 4 people at the cost £780.

Brighton Marina, Sussex.

We can supply additional craft for the assessment as all 4 types of craft are needed:
- Kayak (Closed cockpit)
- Canoe
- Sit-on-top (SOT)
- Paddleboard (SUP)
Equipment needed
Personal Equipment
At this level of assessment, you would be require to have all of your own personal paddling equipment:
- Personal Craft (Kayak / Canoe / Sit-on-top / Paddleboard)
- Personal equipment
Participant Equipment
You would need to inform the Participants under your Instruction of their equipment needs, and be able to provide them with spares etc.
