This two-day winter hillwalking skills course is designed as a first stepping stone into the world of winter adventure. It will equip you with the knowledge and practical know-how necessary to take to the hills in the winter environment.
Your qualified & experienced winter mountain leader will teach you the skills needed to plan and prepare for a day on the hill in the winter environment, as well as the physical skills to safely move on the mountains in snowy or icy conditions.
If you wish to consolidate your skills, we also run a five-day winter skills course to further develop your confidence and knowledge.

Winter walking safety equipment:
- Helmet
- Ice axe
Equipment needed
Personal hill walking equipment:
- *Walking boots (B2) + compatible crampons
- Personal winter clothing waterproofs etc.
*Winter walking boots can be hired from local outdoor shops for approximately £10 per day.
We will provide you with a full kit list upon booking.
Equipment shop

Choose to collect your order on a course (free of charge) and your instructor will have it ready and waiting for you when you arrive.
Transport
Transport is not included, and you will need your own vehicle to access the various mountain ranges.
Please only make travel arrangements (such as booking flights) once we've confirmed with you that the course is going ahead.
